When we keep our focus on God and give Him our best, we have victory in the Lord. We follow His lead, ask for His direction, and consider His character.
Human Victory
We have elections coming up in a matter of days and victory is very much on my mind. I pray for the candidates, I help the best I can, and I pray for an incredible victory. And yet, I’ve helped with a campaign in the past and election day we didn’t win the election. Instead, our victory was in the Lord.
We surrendered our expectations to the results and did not have a human victory. So although our opponent won, we gave God glory for the journey He brought us on. We ran a good campaign and we gave our best and left the results in God’s hands.
The same is true of this election cycle. We know that things are in God’s hands and we praise Him for the journey He has continued to lead us on. And I pray for and claim remarkable victories – presidential, congressional and local. I pray that we as a nation return to biblical values and oust so many that disregard God and His Law.
And yet despite the results this time, we have victory in the Lord. We cling to and rely on God, not government. He is our provider and He always makes a way for His people!
And Yet
I am praying for incredible, biblical victories from my human standpoint! I am asking God to capture the heart of this nation and overthrow His enemies. I am praising God for godly people that are stepping up and making a difference and I am asking that we keep on fighting the good fight!
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. – Ephesians 6:12
Never before have these words rung so true to me. I remember memorizing this Scripture as a child and pondering the meaning. And now it is so obvious. We are waging war on deeper, Spiritual levels. We must stand up against the evil and fight for what is good!
Victory in the Lord
Would you believe that even in the midst of this battle I see victory in the Lord? I see victory when people take a stand for returning to morals and values. I see victory when people hold fast to Biblical principles and moral values. And the thing that excites me most is when godly people refuse to lose. They know that God wins the war, so they stay in it, always faithful and filled with purpose. That is the ultimate victory in the Lord!
So how can we claim this victory in our everyday lives? I always like to break things down to the here and now and make them as applicable as possible. Wake up excited about the day and possibilities before you. Deliberately ask God what He would have you accomplish. Greet your tasks and the people with whom you come in contact with enthusiasm and energy. We are the light of the world – let’s shine!
Praise God for every single thing: good health, a beautiful day, the ability to help others, life skills, time to share with another, a heart for Him, the ability to serve, etc. Praise can simply be a silent prayer that you send up every time you think of something. Or it might be a happy dance like I did the other day all by myself after a particularly exciting breakthrough!
Victory in the Lord comes through seeking Him and following His lead. And then, as all good children must do, thanking Him and praising Him for His direction and results!
Seasons are changing and new things are on the horizon. I’m so grateful for a constant we can always count on and that never changes: God!
Until Next Time!
Hope.
