We are in a war: good vs evil, right vs wrong, moral vs immoral. I am going to present a conversation I have been having a lot lately in regards to this: The world is getting so evil, the Lord will surely be coming back any day, right?
No man knows, not even the Son. Only the Father.
When people try to apply logic to when they think Christ will return, I immediately think otherwise. No man knows, not even the Son. Only God knows.
The Good and Faithful Servants
Remember the parable about the master who gave each of his servants talents and told them to take care of things while he was gone? Upon his return, he found that two of the servants had increased what they were given, while one of the servants had hid what he had out of fear of losing it and angering his master. The master was pleased with the first two servants, but not with the third.
And I can’t help but think that parable could apply on a larger scale here. What if we considered the master to be Christ. He lived on earth, taught and trained us as a people what He expected of us, how to behave and honor Him. And then when He departed, He gave us the Holy Spirit to help guide us in the way we as a people should walk.
One day, when He returns, what is He going to find? Some took the trainings, the Bible, the commandments and used them to be their best for God. They took a stand against evil and fought for what was right. Think of our forefathers – Columbus sailing to a new world, the early colonists braving the harsh winters to build a better life for their children’s future, George Washington at Valley Forge, etc.
The history and biography books might be easy to read, but when you consider what each of these people actually went through, imagine being in their shoes, it brings a sobering reality to the fight they endured and the courage they had. I would imagine that Christ would say, well done good and faithful servant to these remarkable men.
Now consider where we are today. I hear far too many people resigned to the way things are because Christ will “have to come back”. My dad has a quote that I’ve heard him use a long time: the cavalry is not coming. In other words, it’s up to you to put in the effort, to fight the battle, to strengthen yourself in the Lord and make the difference that you can.
Yes indeed, one day the Lord will return, but nobody but God knows when. And when He does, I don’t want to be caught like that third servant who just sat around apprehensively, waiting for the return.
We are in a War
We are in a war, for sure and for certain. A fight for good vs evil, right vs wrong. And the sooner we arm up and realize it, the better we can fight for God’s glory and to put an end to all this foolishness. Evil only thrives when good men do nothing. Let us pray for strength and boldness for our men and leaders.
One way to win a war is to realize you are in the midst of it. That might sound peculiar to say but think about it – if you don’t understand or know what you are fighting for (or against), how can you win? Confusion and distraction are the enemies’ tools.
We need to get serious about our relationship with God, defend our faith, and live lives that honor God. And if we are going to have foreigners living among us, they need to live by God’s commands also. Read the Bible, it is the story of life that keeps repeating itself. The foreigners come in and bring their false “gods” and distract God’s people, time and time again. If you think the war on our children is something new, go back and read your Bible. It is all there, it has happened many times before. There is no new evil under the sun.
Cause and Effect
Cause and effect touches everything. It is the consequences for the choices that have been made. What we are seeing are the results of these choices. We took God out of schools – how can we be surprised that this generation that grew up without Him is full of wickedness and no strength of character?
What we are seeing isn’t end-of-times-only-God-can-save-us, but rather an opportunity to choose a different future! 2 Chronicles 7:14 says “If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
We are in a war and we must fight like our life depends on it. Humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways. Individually, we must commit to seeking God and strengthening our relationship with Him. Learning His ways and His Laws, His commandments. Strengthening our families and our neighbors to take a stand and to improve their life decisions based on God and His Word.
Do you know why the first thing attacked and the most important to rebuild is our individual relationship with God? It is because it is the most vital, by far the most important thing in our life. Our relationship with God and our understanding of Him helps us to gauge everything that is going on around us. Right vs wrong. Good vs evil. And if they can take that away from us by inserting just a little bit of evil, well, can it really matter that much? Look at where we are today and remember, a little leaven leavens the whole loaf.
Take courage, stand up and fight for God, country and our children’s future. The cavalry isn’t coming, nor do I suspect Christ will return just yet. He has a mission for us to accomplish. We are here for such a time as this! Put on the full armor of God and fight like your life depended on it – because it does.
Let us humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, turn from our wicked ways and then see what God will do in our lives!
God Bless You!
Hope.
