After barely escaping an assassination attempt, instead of crawling to safety, President Trump stood and encouraged We the People to fight, fight, fight. God bless that man and praise God for keeping him safe.
He has been fighting ever since he first began running for President. At first the attacks against him were more sneaky, and now they are blatant and horrible. And yet, he presses on. He encourages we the people to press on too, and to fight the evil that so willingly works to overcome us.
President Trump didn’t sign up as President to boost his fortune or fame. He was already quite wealthy and well-known. Instead he signed up to help return the power of the government to the people. To help us return to the way that the founding fathers originally structured our country to run.
Instead of being able to be bought and manipulated to further the political agendas, he worked to make decisions for the good of the people. If you can’t be bought, you can’t be controlled, and that’s not how politics have been played by those in power.
Watching from a distance with my limited perspective, I have found President Trump’s attitude inspiring and encouraging. When faced with unbelievable attacks, he doesn’t seem to let it get him down. In fact, he’s even said, it’s okay, it’s fun. What a guy! I can let simple everyday things wear on me – but that’s nothing compared to what he’s going through!
His resiliency inspires me to put my shoulders back and not take things so seriously, practice imperturbability, and fight!
Fight for What You Believe
I think we as a people need to fight for things a bit more. Not as in fight each other, but fight opposition.
My sister and I were talking and I was saying how if things weren’t the way you wanted them, then you need to do your part to change them. Perhaps it is by having the hard conversations, being inconvenienced, or making a sacrifice.
Further, I think perhaps men need to step up and be the fighters. Yes, we as women do too, but our fights are more within the home, making the children mind or bringing things together to make the home a safe haven.
Men need to fight for the family, for the country, and for our values. And I think we as women need to encourage them to fight. To take the stand and hold themselves and others accountable to God’s call.
Think about Scripture, David – the man after God’s own heart – was constantly fighting. True we don’t typically have to go to war like in those days, but David fought for his throne, for his family, and for his life. He fought for God and for the call God placed on His life.
Even Jesus was a fighter. He fought the popular trends and rituals. One might even say that He fought the reality that we understood through the miracles He performed. He shook things up! He wasn’t passive and quiet, He was a fighter – for God and for His people.
What Does Fighting Look Like for You
So how can we apply this where God has us? Perhaps you are a mom with little ones in the house. Fight for order and respect. For good behavior and good attitudes. Work to keep that house a home that your husband enjoys returning to. School and train those littles intentionally and wholeheartedly, not begrudgingly.
Maybe you’re single and working – do your work for God’s glory. Make sure your occupation and how you spend your free time honors God. Fight to uphold God’s values and not follow the crowd. Serve others wholeheartedly and unbegrudgingly. Pray that God sends you a remarkable spouse so that you might grow and better serve God together. Ask God to direct you and then fight to have faith for where He leads.
Perhaps you’re still young, learning and growing. Fight to look and listen for God’s direction. The world is loud and distracting, fight to find God in it all. Fight the popular behaviors and tendencies to follow the crowd. Honor your parents and be a blessing to them. Do your chores and your schooling to the best of your ability.
Fight the norm, fight the popular trends, fight the human tendencies the world pushes so hard. We as Christians are called to be set apart and holy. And that is a daily fight we must face. Each in our own way, from our own perspective. But the fighting, the trials and struggles, helps us to build character and become strong! Step up, be bold and courageous, and fight!
Until Next Time!
Hope.
