Teamwork makes the dream work – it’s true! One can accomplish so much more in life by working together with others. True you must pick your team carefully, but God is so good to bless our efforts as we seek Him, isn’t He?
Be Part of a Team
How do you become part of a team? That’s a great question and I really don’t think there’s only one right answer. Consider what team you want to be a part of. Ideally I would think it would be part of a group that’s learning something new or working to bring about positive change. Pray and ask God what He would have you pursue. Often as you pray and ask God, He will bring opportunities to you. Prayer never returns void – it is an amazing thing!
Also important to consider is your family – there are many built-in team opportunities right in front of you. I would say this is your most vital team of all! Whether married or single, we have opportunities to help and encourage those closest to us and we should be sure to build them up first and foremost. It can often be ten times easier to go join a team elsewhere, but remember easier does not mean better. If you will learn to interact well and to encourage those God has put you closest to then that will help you go far in life!
But in addition to all this, perhaps you want to work somewhere specific or help a candidate running for office. There are many opportunities to join different teams. Consider the goal of the team and the quality of the people already on it. Is it God-honoring? Because believe me, it matters. As women I think it is very important to be cautious about what we become a part of. Carefully considering these things and asking God should help you make a sound decision!
Being part of a team is a lot of fun – and a lot of work! Some we are born into – like our family – but others we can choose. It is vital that we choose wisely!
Build a Dream Team
Perhaps you own a business or are responsible for building a team at work. Let me encourage you to build an A class team. Godly, hard workers, pleasant personalities, similar values, etc. If you want a dream team, then it is important for folks to be like-minded and get along.
Dream teams aren’t built overnight. Be patient and ask God to help you find the right people for your team. Speaking from personal experience, this may require longer hours and more work from you. But believe me, it’s worth it in the long run! Team members come and go and you want to surround yourself with the ones you don’t want to see go rather than the ones that you dread showing up!
Consider carefully with whom you spend your time. This is one of the things we can choose in life, so let’s choose well!
All for God’s Glory
Our work is one more opportunity to bring glory to God – and that should be our goal! No matter whether you are a dishwasher or a sales clerk, you should give it your best, work joyfully, and represent God well!
Some things in life we choose and other things seem to choose us … in that I mean God makes the path to them clear. Do all for God’s glory: your work, how you keep house, talk to people, grocery shop, etc, etc.
Teamwork makes the dream work. When we step into where God has us and pay attention to the blessings He surrounds us with, we will find many teams of cheerleaders surrounding us! This really hit me the other day. Someone asked for my help and though I couldn’t help personally, I knew a few people who might could so I reached out to them. Though they might not realize it, they were like a team to yield a result.
And then there is another project I’m working on. I’ve reached out to a few like-minded people to get help from them either personally or business-wise. Again, dream team. We’ll have a terrific result due to working as a team and I didn’t have to do everything myself and was able to support local business.
These people and contacts aren’t of my own doing, but rather people God has brought into my life as a result of my seeking to bring glory to Him where He has me. It’s really humbling how He works everything together. But at the same time, it is my job to realize what’s in front of me and make the most of it!
As the saying goes, God doesn’t give you a shovel and then tell you to pray for a hole. Use the tools and resources He gives. Ask for wisdom to see where He is leading and then the courage to step into it!
Where is He leading you? Learn to be a team player in your family and where God has you. Pick your friends, your dream team, carefully. Adventure awaits!
Until Next Time!
Hope.
