In pursuit of a specific document that I put together a few months back, I took a trip down Memory Lane. It was quite the journey, though I didn’t find the document I set out for!
But it got me to thinking about where I am now versus where I was with some of these older documents. After all, hindsight is 20/20. Some of these files represent some interesting milestones – my first resume, goals, business plans, etc.
Looking back down Memory Lane I see that some things came together and exceeded my expectations while others fizzled and are not missed. Isn’t life so interesting?!
Photographs
While we are visiting Memory Lane, let’s consider pleasant things to find there. Top of my list would have to be photographs! They remind me of pleasant times, people I love, and everyday adventures! Call me crazy, but they can have me tearing up and feeling all kinds of nostalgic.
Photographs remind me of blessings that might have slipped my mind. They freeze time for just a moment and warm the heart. They help me better appreciate what I have and remind me of blessings I may have taken for granted.
Opportunities
Looking back down Memory Lane, it is interesting to see the opportunities with which we have been presented. Small things that led to larger things. Significant possibilities that slipped away.
God has a wonderful plan for His people and I just marvel at how He orchestrates all things for our good! We must be sure to give Him our best and pursue where He directs us.
Family
I know it’s always said – but that’s because it’s true – family is one of the most precious things on Memory Lane.
The time we played charades together after Thanksgiving and had the laugh of our lives. Working together to plan a lovely 50th anniversary party for our parents. Meeting together every Sunday for church as a family.
So many precious family memories pave the road of Memory Lane.
Adventures
Adventures are an important part of life! They take the unknown and help it be more exciting and less intimidating.
Looking back down Memory Lane, adventures can easily be found – though they may have started out as random opportunities that you decided to take a chance on. These experiences helped to make you a bit stronger and better at navigating adventures that present themselves today.
God’s Direction
I find it incredible to look down Memory Lane and see how God has directed my life. Through opportunities, trials, adventures and more, He’s been with me every step of the way. He’s brought me through some unexpected twists and turns, forever faithful.
It is reassuring to see His hand on my life in so many ways. Comforting to know He has a perfect plan and that He directs me where He wants me. Without Him I would be lost!
Memory Lane
Though we can’t stay there long, it is interesting to visit Memory Lane once in a while. I didn’t really have plans of reminiscing, I was simply looking for a file that I typed up a few weeks back.
But instead of finding the file, I was met with many memories from the last decade. Some lovely, some that didn’t go anywhere. And many, many reminders that God is always in the details, directing our lives – and what could be better than that?!
Until Next Time!
Hope.
