This year could be the best year of your life! No matter where you are right now, a simple perspective shift has the potential to lead to that. And once you realize that and lean in to it, magic happens! (okay, not really magic, but brighter days and exciting possibilities!)
Pressing Forward
One of the first steps in planning for the best year of your life is to press forward. Use the past wisely – only recalling the good and lessons learned. Don’t get hung up on mistakes or things that didn’t go how you wanted them to. No amount of thinking about it or reliving it in your mind is going to change things.
Switch your focus to what’s ahead, that’s where we can make a difference, after all!
Paul wrote in Scripture, “Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.“
We should work to bring our best and give our best for God’s glory. And when we work to be at our best for His glory, then we experience a joy unlike any other. It truly will make every year the best year of our lives!
Plan for the Future
As Christians, God has a plan for us and calls us to different things. When we seek Him, He is incredible about laying out our future for us.
As you let go of the past and press forward to what lies ahead, begin to formulate a plan for the future. Make sure you serve well where you are and then consider what opportunities lay open before you! Where you are currently serving is in all probability not where you will always be.
What do you dream of doing? What is a hidden desire of your heart? Take some time and ponder what God might have in store for you.
Remember – you are not limited to serving God only in church or church related activities. We as Christians have the opportunity to serve Him through our vocations and everyday lives! Don’t limit yourself to how you choose to serve Him!
Pray for Guidance
It all comes back to prayer, doesn’t it? The Bible says to pray without ceasing and I can’t help but think that is because our focus should always be on submitting to Him. Not that we need to make our prayers obvious to others, but there are many times throughout the day when I whisper a pray of help or patience as I’m dealing with difficult customers or my temper feels short.
The beauty of praying for guidance is that God will always direct us! Hold on to that guarantee and don’t let impatience get the best of you. He always answers prayers. He will make the way clear in His perfect timing! Be at peace and be expectant for His direction.
The truth of the matter is that every year has the potential to be the best year of your life! And that happens one day at a time, one intentional effort at a time to look for the best and serve God to the best of your ability! Don’t wait for the feelings to follow or until things are less difficult.
Take a deep breath, relax your shoulders, lift your head and praise God for guiding your life! This is going to be the best year of your life!
Until Next Time!
Hope.

Perfect to have read on my birthday! I had ab “aha” moment reading June issue of American Essence recently. In an interview with Joe Hart (CEO of Dale Carnegie Training), where he asks, (1)Are your thoughts harmful or supportive? (2)What are thoughts you’re having that are limiting your ability to move forward? Do you magnify the negative? What would happen of you changed those thoughts? (3) Practice choosing the right thoughts.
A new book authored by Michael Crom (Dale Carnegie’s [author of How to Win Friends and Influence People] grandson) and Joe Hart, Take Command, was put on my birthday list, because the first section in this book is on thoughts and emotions – can people take command of these?! There followed the questions which made such a difference to me, I wanted to read the whole book!
The rest is history. I started practicing and it has made SUCH a difference in my life! Thank you for your posts which also encourage me to “practice”!
Love you!
Mother
