The Key to Success

The Key to Success blog

The key to success is playing the hand you were dealt like it was the hand you wanted.

I have no idea who this quote originated with, but I find it inspiring! Time and time again, as I look around at different people living their lives, the common theme that I admire is those who make the most of where they are. They step into their roles wholeheartedly and work at being their best.

You don’t have to live on a beach and drive a convertible to be a success, just own who you are and where you are and give God your best! That is the true key to success!

The Hand You Were Dealt

I really think no matter who you are, we all have our challenges and struggles. The hand we are dealt, so to speak.

But if you will accept that hand as guidance for where God wants you versus thinking of it as punishment and that life is unfair, you will go so much farther in life! (This is of course assuming that you are making every effort to make wise decisions and live a life that pleases God.)

God has a magnificent way of guiding us through circumstances and opportunities.

And the interesting thing we must remember is it will not always be easy. Truly good things take time and work! What we acquire too easily we esteem too lightly.

Another interesting take I’ve heard is that when we ask for wisdom, we are often given problems to work through. But those problems, if well navigated, help us to grow the wisdom! And when we ask for patience, we’re often given reason to wait to help us to grow our patience.

I think it is essential and interesting to remember that these qualities aren’t just poured on us. Rather challenging circumstances arise to help us to grow them!

So next time you or someone you know are tempted to bemoan “the hand you were dealt,” consider what that hand might be teaching you! After all, real life is the best teacher!

The Hand You Wanted

So what do you want? What are your expectations and dreams? I certainly have a few of my own that I pray about!

But just because we want things, doesn’t mean they will necessarily be for us. I’ve noticed a curious thing about God – one I rather delight in really – He has a way of showing me a glimpse of what He has for me. But then rather than bringing it about the way I anticipate, He does it in a completely different, but much more wonderful way!

To be honest, I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t second guess as much as I used to. Notice I didn’t say I don’t second guess, just not as much now! I figure, why try figure it out when I know it will be so much better His way?!

And while I wait for the hopes and dreams in my heart, it inspires me to make the most of where I am right now! If I set my sights on God, then I can be certain He has me living the dream, even while I anticipate things to come!

He’s Never Late

And one last interesting thought for today – remember that God is never late. He hasn’t forgotten you or missed assigning things for your life.

His plans are perfect, and though you and I may get impatient for what’s ahead, He is never late! So put your head down and remember the quote above: The secret to success is playing the hand you were dealt like it was the hand you wanted.

This doesn’t mean you give up on your hopes and dreams – on the contrary! It helps you better appreciate the here and now so that when your hopes and dreams come along you can better appreciate them!

Until Next Time!

Hope.
