Plans for 2023

Plans for 2023

Do you have plans for 2023? It will be here soon so it’s best to start thinking about it before it arrives!

Typically by now I’ve bought a planner and am looking at my goals. Though I’ve had them in the back of my mind, I confess I’ve not given them the consideration I like to. As is often true, things have not gone quite like I thought they might when I set goals last year, so I need to adjust my expectations accordingly!

Plan it Out

What is the point in having plans if they are just going to change? Plans – or goals – give you something to aim for. They are flexible and not cast in concrete. In addition to that, I think they inspire self discipline – you are prompted to make progress on projects that you otherwise might let slip aside.

Another element of goals is that they can be fun! Typically I set goals that I consider responsible, sensible, etc, but I love to get still and try to think of something incredible! If time and money wasn’t a constraint, what would be my dream?! It is fascinating in that when you name your dream and break it down in to achievable steps, there’s really very little that can’t be accomplished!

You must be willing to work and sacrifice for it, but if you’re willing, there is so much you can do!

Last Years Goals

I like to create my goals for the upcoming year based on the current years goals. Some items will automatically transfer over – for instance my Bible and devotions. Though I might change which devotional I am going through or which order I read the Bible in, that goal carries on year after year.

But often (ideally!) projects get finished and goals get met so new goals need to be determined and set! I like to pray about my goals and ask God to impress me with what is important to Him. I also like to consider things I might do for others. Life is about so much more than ourselves personally and I think it is important that our goals reflect that!

Dream Big

I’ve started doing something a bit extra on my list of goals. My basic sheet keeps things pretty simple and lists several categories with a goal or two in each category. The categories can include but are not limited to: Spiritual, Business/Home, Financial, and Projects. Inside Business/Home I have broken it down to two more categories for home goals versus boutique goals.

And there at the bottom of my page is an uncategorized short list of things that are on my mind. Perhaps I don’t know how to set them as a goal or aren’t sure how realistic they are so I’ll just write them down and consider them. Along and along, it is amazing and fascinating to see them either find their way to my actual goal list or find myself accomplishing them even though I originally didn’t know where to begin!

Plans for 2023

So what are your plans for 2023? Don’t limit yourself to setting goals only for projects, consider your mindset and attitude too!

I read that imperturbability is one of the best things a Christian can develop. I am working on that – perhaps it is something you want to work on too! As Christians we must constantly work to represent God well. We mustn’t grow weary or be too self-centered to serve Him first! When we honor Him, He opens doors and presents opportunities like nothing else!

So buy that planner and make a list of goals – responsible and remarkable! It is amazing what can be accomplished when we serve God to the best of our ability!

Until Next Time!

Hope.
