Have you had a nice summer? As August draws to a close and we head towards the last quarter of the year, I thought it might be enjoyable to reflect on the past few months!
Personally I can’t believe how this year has flown. In between politics and work, one might loose sight of some of the highlights of life if one doesn’t stop and appreciate them! And it is so lovely to purposefully look for the good, the lovely, and appreciate it all over again!
I thought I would share a few of my summer highlights with you – and then challenge you to identify your own!
Watching my niece build puzzles for the first time
My little niece is about 1-1/2-years-old. She’s cute as a button and busy as can be! On one of her more recent visits at my house I was watching her put together little wooden puzzles. One by one she would pick up a piece, find where it belonged and then work and work to get it to fit. It was precious! She had me so excited watching her pudgy hands at work! I think I was more excited about the puzzles than she was!
A newer vehicle
For just over a year I’ve been on the hunt for a newer vehicle. I had an idea of what make, model and color I was interested in, and just weeks ago signed the paperwork on something even nicer than I anticipated! The back story of this vehicle is kind of funny in several ways. One of which is that I knew what I wanted, and it wasn’t this make and model. My nephew tried to tell me they were nicer than what I was wanting. Then my boyfriend told me the same thing, this type would be a lot nicer than what I was looking for. Thankfully, I have a bunch of guys looking out for me who know what they are talking about! I wound up with the nicer style they recommended and I like it very well!
A boat ride on the river
For simply ages I’ve wanted to go for a boat ride. Years and years ago, I remember someone saying we’d borrow a boat and go for a ride sometime and ever since then, it’s been something in the back of my mind that I’ve wanted to do. Earlier this summer, my boyfriend hitched up his boat, loaded a cooler with water and snacks, and off we went to the river! It was such a pretty day and an enjoyable time!
And so much more
There are so many other summer highlights I could share! Driving in the mountains, early coffee stops at my favorite Bistro, afternoons at the beach, sitting by the river. And let’s not overlook highlights at work too, customers that encourage and cheer us on, moments when we are able to meet specific needs, receiving new and beautiful inventory – and I could keep going!
There is a quote that goes something like, “When you focus on the good, the good gets better”. And I like that! When we look for the good in life, we see more and more of it! You typically find what you look for, and I want to be sure that I appreciate all the wonderful things God surrounds me with! As Scripture says, He fills my life with good things!
What are some of your Summer Highlights? Share them below or send me an email!
Until Next Time!
Hope.
PS. Challenge yourself to look for highlights in your year. You could even take this a step further and use this as a challenge to create highlights! Even ordinary moments can take on new meanings when you take the opportunity to appreciate them!
