We are Representatives

We are Representatives

Life can get busy, can’t it? We race and we hurry and things can get lost in the shuffle. Knowing this, it is vital that we make time and opportunity to grow in our faith. More than just church on Sunday. As representatives of God, it is our duty to pursue Him and give Him our very best.

I was listening to a radio show of sorts this morning and the man, Lin Wood, commented that it was important to not only pray, but also be sure to tune our ears to listen to God.

He went on to remind us that God speaks to us through a still, small voice. Not through a loudspeaker. He’s not on the sidelines of what we’re doing flapping His arms trying to get our attention. He is in the quiet and in the pause.

I think that might be why being busy in life is almost glorified, to distract us from God. Yes, it is good to work and to work hard, but you have to be sure to take the time to refuel and rest. And what better way to do that than to spend time with God and in His Word?!

The Bible is quite literally the best guidebook for life. Not because you can turn to page 180 to see if you should sign the contract or not, but because it teaches discernment, wisdom, insight, etc. We shouldn’t seek to be given the answers but rather how to determine them well.

Pray without Ceasing

Prayer is a vital part of our lives as Christians. Not that you have to get on bended knee at every moment, but that you might have an ongoing conversation with God. In your mind, and yes, out loud sometimes too, but constant and faithful. Ask for direction, seek guidance, and thank Him for all His blessings!

God rarely directly speaks to people (that I know about), but if you will pay attention He will lead you down the path He has for you. He might use other people, circumstances, or even just a strong sense of what to do. He is forever faithful and His lovingkindness is everlasting!

As Christ said, “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.” And I want to be fruitful. I want the efforts of my hands to be blessed so that others might ponder why and how, and in turn be directed to God!

As Christians that is who we are and who we should seek to be, representatives of God! Let’s do our best to represent Him remarkably well!

Until Next Time!

Hope.
