This year for Thanksgiving we all chose something to bake or cook and I was asked to make cookies. Typically I make either chocolate chip or M&M cookies, but this time I wanted to mix it up a little! Why not several smaller batches of different cookies?
I came across a recipe for Ginger Crinkle Cookies and knew I had to try it! Crinkles have long been one of my favorite cookies, but they have to be done just right. Not too dry, not too moist, and most definitely cooked the right amount of time!
With a few tweaks to the recipe these came out “just right“, as Amelia Bedelia would say, and I wanted to share the recipe with you!
Ginger Crinkles
- 2-1/4 c all purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1 c packed brown sugar
- 3/4 c butter
- 1/4 c molasses
- 1 egg
Soften butter to almost melting. Stir in molasses and egg. Mix in spices, baking soda and brown sugar. Finish by adding flour. Stir until mixed. (I do this by hand, but you can also use a mixer.)
Place in uniform balls on an ungreased cookie sheet. (We use small ice cream scoops to keep our cookies consistent and tidy.) Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes.
Makes approximately 30 cookies (if using a small scoop).
Enjoy!
These ginger crinkle cookies are delicious and quite easy to make. I highly recommend making enough to share with family and friends! Double the recipe and take a bag to your local law enforcement or firefighters to show your appreciation!
Do you have a favorite recipe that you want to share?
Until Next Time!
Hope.
PS. Have you tried your hand at brownies recently? I shared my favorite brownie recipe here: https://www.theamericanlady.com/2019/06/26/best-ever-brownies/
