It was late and I just needed to finalize an order and then I could call it a day. As I started to sit down to finish up, I took stock of what I had so I wouldn’t need to get up again before I was done.
Order details, card, and my water for good measure. Great, I have everything I need, I thought to myself.
And then the true depth of that simple statement hit me – I do have everything I need.
Not just to place that order, but for life, to fulfill the role God has placed me in, to do what He has for me to do. Wow, don’t you love when a casual thought turns into something so much deeper?
We have everything we need.
That’s why we are where we are. God designed our lives specifically and He expects us to make good use of them. We aren’t supposed to stand still, but rather grow and pursue where He guides.
We must have an ambitious attitude toward life. God didn’t create any of us to stand still or to just accept the status quo, He created us with a purpose and it is up to us to pursue that purpose. To be sure, there is a time to rest but then we must get up and get back at it!
What if we don’t know what to pursue?
Knowing that we have everything we need is wonderful, but there is still a lot of work to be done. What is God’s plan for us? What would He have us pursue?
He has given each of us many strengths and inclinations and it is our job to pick one and pursue it. That doesn’t mean we are locked into it forever, simply that we should give it our very best effort. Perhaps it is a life’s calling or perhaps it is just a season. When one season ends another will present itself.
Spend time in prayer, talking with God. He will reveal His plan to you. Sometimes just a tiny step at a time, while other times He will place a certainty in your heart of what is ahead.
Be strong and courageous knowing that you have everything you need!
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” – 2 Timothy 1:7
Until Next Time!
Hope.
