If you are looking for something fun and unusual to try before the end of summer, than I heartily suggest that you try your hand at making some luxury body products!
Luxury body products might include lotion, soap, shampoo, conditioner, or even cosmetics! Guess who used to make some of these products and sell them?? Yours truly! It’s enjoyable, fascinating and deliciously rewarding! Though let me warn you upfront, some of the body butters can look just like whipped cream – they certainly won’t taste like it!
Interestingly, making these products can be quite time consuming – and it isn’t altogether inexpensive. But if you are looking for something new and have a bit of spare time and resources to use, I really think you’ll enjoy it!
So where do you begin?
As with many things, just start somewhere! Start with a recipe that you’ve come across or by doing some research to learn what ingredients to use. Personally I bought books (and received some as gifts). Some of them were treasure troves of information, whereas others were dull and uninspiring.
Some websites offer premade kits while others offer raw ingredients. Do some research and see what most inspires you. Perhaps you don’t want to deal with finding/buying/storing lots of ingredients – in that case look into the available kits.
Or perhaps you are something of a health guru so learning about each ingredient and its origin is right up your alley. Enjoy the search to find each ingredient that resonates with what you want to create!
I started out using kits and worked my way into making products from ‘scratch’. It just felt more authentic to start from the ground up! To get the heat and timing just right so that the wax flakes will melt and stir into the lotion base without melting it.
Fragrance and dyes are two other important elements you will also have to choose. You can use synthetic scents or essential oils. Though the essential oils are more natural, it is recommended that you use a very small amount. This causes the fragrance to typically be much lighter than using synthetic fragrance oils. When choosing dyes, a similar choice has to be made. Typical dyes require very little product to be used and mix in well, whereas natural colorants don’t stay mixed as well and also stain things terribly.

So where did I shop for my products and find my recipes? Wholesale Supplies Plus was always one of my favorite vendors:
Wholesale Supplies Plus https://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com – from their products to customer service to web design to shipping speed, I was always pleased! And as I recall, their prices were quite reasonable too!
Brambleberry https://www.brambleberry.com – this site was also one I would shop. Some of their recipes, videos and ingredients (mica, for example!) were just wonderful!
Looking for recipes? Try pinterest or pick a book from your local bookstore! Can’t decide where to begin? I suggest body butter – it’s definitely a luxury product and is quite straightforward to make!
Until Next Time!
Hope.
