Today I wanted to share some ideas for Summer so that you can make the most of the sunshine and warm weather!
Contrary to popular opinion, you don’t have to go anywhere for a good time. This being said, if you get the opportunity and are able – definitely enjoy! But if you aren’t able to go far because of financial reasons or perhaps you don’t have time off, consider other local options to make this summer extra memorable!
Take a Tour
I remember one year my sister and I went and walked through the gardens of a park in a nearby town. Admission was free and the area was lovely – complete with a curved brick wall. We walked the trails and walkways with the brochure and read the history of the place. It was lovely!
Just next door was another park of sorts, but this one had a historic house. We wandered around the grounds and then somehow, came across a lady that worked at the house. Though it wasn’t open to the public at the time (it was reserved for events and such), she offered to take us on a tour! It was delightful! She told us of the houses’ history and how it had been added onto. She showed us the servant’s quarters – how they were only large enough for a bed and a chest of drawers for their clothes.
She explained how the two sites, the one with the gardens and the one with the historic home, had belonged to relatives and how the house at the gardens had sadly burned years and years ago.
This tour cost us nothing, but it was such a treat! You too could find out if you have anywhere semi-local to tour or visit! Most of us live near sites we haven’t taken the opportunity to go see yet!
Learn Something New
Another idea for summer is to try out a new project. Perhaps you’ve been wanting to get into beading, baking, or design. Get some information together and give it a try! Buy a book about your area of interest or simply do some research online! You don’t have to have a beach trip planned and time away in order to enjoy your summer!
Get together with a nearby friend or relative and help them with a project. Sometimes the simplest things done together are the most enjoyable!
I hope that, whether you are headed to the Grand Canyon or not leaving town, you make the most of your summer! There is adventure waiting for you around every corner, but it’s up to you to discover it and enjoy it!
Happy Summer!
Hope.
PS. So this summer I’ll be working, but around working I’ve managed to have my share of adventure! First off, I’ve moved, and secondly, I’ve a new business opportunity in the works and I can’t wait to see it become a reality! What have you been up to? Leave me a comment below!
