I love finding pretty little shops to recommend – whether they are online or brick and mortar – and Twig Downtown is definitely one of those shops!
The story of Twig goes back several years.
I had recently received a small office building to run my online clothing boutique and I was in the process of converting the office from a construction office to a boutique office. After painting, replacing light fixtures and adding mirrors and pretty wall hangings, I wanted to find a pretty wardrobe or something to keep the clothing in. My sister and I went to Charleston and visited multiple shops looking for the perfect piece. Sadly we found nothing.
A few days later we found ourselves in the downtown of our own town and decided to walk through shops. That was our first taste of a shop named Once Again.
We walked in to this little shop and were blown away with it’s beauty. The painted furniture, the lovely decor, the delicious scent – everything.
To say that I think I could have bought everything in that shop is no exaggeration!
We walked around and found a chest of drawers that I thought would be perfect for the Studio. We measured it and found that it would work. It was gray, quite tall, and had drawers in multiple sizes. Perfect!
We also spotted an ivory chest of drawers with beautiful detailing too. It was a toss up between the two pieces. We measured it and were delighted to realize that both pieces would fit in the Studio. My sister and I brainstormed about the gorgeous finds over lunch. We were sold on these lovely vintage pieces, but wanted our father to look them over before we bought them.
Soon we were headed home with them and they found their perfect spot in the Studio.
I remember telling another one of my sister’s how much I had liked the shop the Studio furniture had come from. I finally convinced her to visit with me and she agreed – it was lovely! If I were ever to work in or own a shop, it would have to be similar to this, I decided.
Twig Downtown
A few years passed and one day while coming home from an event, I had a message from the owner of the shop where I had purchased the furniture. She had closed her previous shop and was opening a new similar shop in town. She was looking for clothing for her shop and wondered if I would like to bring my clothing to be sold at her shop. I was delighted and we planned a meeting to work out the details.
Soon Colbert Clothing was happily situated in her lovely new shop, Twig. The classic styles of Colbert Clothing meshed perfectly with the look of Twig!
A few months passed and the owner and I decided that I should come keep the shop open two more days a week. I enjoyed getting to know local customers and helping them in the shop. A little while later, my sister came to join the fun and began painting furniture for the shop. It was lovely to work together in such an inviting spot!
And then the unexpected happened.
The shop owner told us that she was done with the shop – would we be interested in buying it?! We were so surprised – and yet delighted at the opportunity!
So here we are, my sister and I, the happy owners of a lovely little downtown shop called Twig – the prettiest shop on the block! Be sure to come by to see us and experience your own taste of a beautiful, relaxing, delightful shop! I highly recommend it!
