The Story of Our Lives
I think a person’s story is one of the most fascinating things! I love how no two stories are the same, and each story has elements of mystery and surprise! It’s just incredibly amazing how God has woven each of our lives! They are like a good book – you know the kind, it’s so enjoyable and well written that you can’t wait to sit down and read a few more pages!
That’s how God designs our lives. They are the most carefully thought out and planned stories in the world! God has a unique purpose for each of us!
I didn’t walk until I was six. Doctor’s said I wouldn’t be able to walk at all. I have seven other siblings that walked at about a year like most other children. What made my story different? What made me unique? God’s perfect plan! Never, ever, underestimate God’s plan for your life. Just marvel at the wonder of it!
Each life is so unique – it’s exciting! Knowing that you are the only person who can fill your shoes, the only person who can dream your dreams, the only one who can work to make them happen. Isn’t that thrilling?! I can’t replace you and you can’t be who I need to be!
That’s not to say that we won’t need help along the way. You should have help and you should be a help to others. That’s just another dimension of our stories, of the intricacy of our lives! Little things, small gestures – they mean so much! And they further write the stories of our lives! I don’t know about you, but I want my story to be vivid, detailed, fascinating, deep, engaging and exciting! I want people to see God in my story. What about you?!
Just stop and think about your life story. Maybe you are a wife and mother or perhaps you are just graduating high school. Your interactions, your plans, your capabilities, your goals – they are uniquely your own! True, you might want to go to college to study interior design just like your best friend, but you each come from your own background, you each have your own unique approach to life, and you will each have your own element to bring to interior design!
What’s your favorite part about your story? Is it decorating your home? Training your little ones? Getting engaged? Perhaps it’s where you live – do you just love the location? Don’t limit yourself to one favorite – list several! For me, I find that some of the things that I wouldn’t personally have chosen, the parts that make my story uniquely my own, are some of my favorites.
Now here’s another question to keep you thinking! What’s your favorite part about your parent’s story? Be specific here! Their relationship with each other? The way they always have time for you? The way they encourage you? You should tell them. Tell them what you love and admire about them, that makes them uniquely who they are!
Now go down your list of family and friends, and think about what you love about their story! And be sure to tell them! Not all at once. Not as if this is a project to complete and check off. But as an ongoing kindness and encouragement to others! It really is the sweetest thing and it will mean so much to them! I wish you’d share some of those stories with me – I’d love it!
Until Next Time!
Hope.
