Happy, Happy New Year!!
Isn’t it so exciting to begin a New Year?! So many possibilities! So much potential! I hope you enjoyed the Holidays with your family and loved ones! I definitely did!
The New Year has me brainstorming about goals! I love goal setting – it gives me a hint of what to pursue! Many, even most, times I follow goals all the way through until completion, but in the last few years I’ve learned to let some goals go. Opportunities and inclinations change and it is okay to let some things go.
Do you have your goals all organized and *sparkly* fresh for the New Year?! –music fades- … I’m afraid I don’t quite yet either! I do have goals in my head ready to write at a moments notice – which we all know is NOT where goals should stay! They should be written, improved, expanded and pursued! – but I thought instead of writing my goals tonight, I’d catch up with you wonderful readers! Goals will wait for tomorrow; friendships and encouragement take priority!
I was surprised that my goal list for 2016 was only ever written by hand. Usually I hand write my goals – is it just me, or does hand writing feel so much more authentic, sincere and special than typing something on the computer?! – and then type them up for evaluating and expanding throughout the year. I’m a little embarrassed to confess that I’m not sure I referred to my list of goals at all in 2016.
Life seemed to have some surprising twists and for some reason I just didn’t take the opportunity to examine the progress I had made with my goals. Sigh. Disclaimer: I am human. …And I am also completely determined to be much more goal oriented and alert this year! This is the year that incredible things happen! Amazing opportunities will present themselves! It will be the Best Year Ever!
Do you ponder the importance of goals? They are essential if you want to live to your fullest potential! And you really ought to want to be your best! If you set high goals and hit those marks – that is amazing! If you set high goals and miss those marks by a bit – you’re still way closer than if you hadn’t set any goals to begin with! Start small and gain momentum! Be sincere and focused in your efforts! Do your best!
I had an interesting thought a few days ago. I was all kinds of excited and anticipating the New Year and the huge potential that lay in it and I realized that I seemed to be waiting for January 1st to really hit the ground running. And it dawned on me that there was no rule that said that I had to wait for “soon” or “January 1st” to renew my interest and efforts in life! How short-sighted of me! Now is the time to renew your efforts, to pursue your goals, to give life your best!
How do you set goals? Do you have just a list of, say, eight to ten items that you want to accomplish? Or do you organize your goals painstakingly into categories – physical goals; intellectual goals; hobbies, etc? What are some of your goals this year?! I’ll share some of mine along and along!
Until Next Time!
Hope.
